Olomouc, located in North Moravia, is most probably the grand dame of all Moravian cities.  Originally founded by Julius Caesar himself, Olomouc has a class and charm that the Emperor would be proud of.

The city today is really an architectural wonder, with its mix of Romanesque and Gothic churches and cathedral, to the famous six Baroque fountains named after real and mythological Roman and Greek personages on the main square.  And let us not forget the Trinity Column- the largest Baroque sculpture in all of Europe, as well as its astronomical clock.

Once the capital of the Great Moravian Empire, Olomouc carries herself off like a true lady.  And yet she has a tremendous energy that is complemented by all the young people who roam her streets, themselves the new face of Olomouc and the Palacký University.

Olomouc is really an undiscovered treasure.  Comparatively speaking, there are few tourists here, so the visitor will feel free to soak up the charm and splendor that she offers.
